Well this is the end of my Retrochallenge 2014 Winter Warmup project.  I had to chase down a few last bugs in the "Uncle Tays' House Adventure" that I ported to the TRS-80 MC-10 Micro Color Basic from Javascript Applesoft Basic source that I found at github.com.  I have also now ported it to Dragon worldofdragon.org and Coco JGGAMES.zip.  I would like to thank the organizers for a very enjoyable competition and for all the impetus that it has provided.

If you want to play it you can do so at the the link below. Just Select "Play game" and then "8-bit BASIC text adventures" link. Then select UNCLETAY from the cassette menu, and type RUN and hit Enter in the main emulator (Green) screen: https://gamejolt.com/games/jgmc-10games/339292

  1. Hi, author of the game here. I'm thrilled to see your walkthrough.

A small correction: The library is intended to be on the first floor, not the basement. It fits into the ? on your map north of HALL.

    1. Fixed. It was a problem with my map drawing not my conversion of the game. See above.

    2. And I've always wanted to ask. Did you have a cousin who really ran off and joined the Baath party? Syrian? Iraqi?

    3. I did not have a cousin who joined a middle eastern fascist party.

My grandfather kept dobermans so that part is accurate.

    4. Thanks for clearing that up. Was always intrigued about the Baath party reference. Just seemed so off the wall. But then again the whole adventure has a slightly surreal feel to it. Thanks again for a fun adventure.

  2. Wow! Sorry to take so long to get back. Not many read my blog and its hooked to a really old e-mail of mine. Thanks for the bug report. I'll have to go back and fix my version and send an update to the Solutions Archive. Great game!

  3. @Floyd I tried playing your game on this emulator (https://www.calormen.com/jsbasic/) but when I try to open the left or center door, I get an error: Illegal quantity in line 7130. Opening the right one does work like intended. Cool game though!
